Yitzchak Goldstein directs Machon Ot, which he founded in 1986 (5746) together with his late brother-in-law Rabbi Yitzchak Steiner z"l. The institute specialises in the renewal of old Torah scrolls, anti-theft coding, and research into Torah scroll manuscripts. To learn how to renew old scrolls, the institute turned to museums and manuscript experts, who taught them how to restore, repair and date old Torah scrolls and return them to synagogue use.
